Frequently Asked Questions

5083 aluminum bar is used for marine fittings, shafts, fasteners, deck hardware, offshore platform brackets, rudder stocks and any saltwater-exposed structural component that needs high strength and corrosion resistance.

We supply 5083 aluminum round bar from 6 mm to 300 mm diameter, plus square, hexagonal and flat bars on request. Custom sizes up to 500 mm diameter are available.

Yes. 5083 is a marine-grade alloy. Tempers H116 and H321 are specifically developed for saltwater service because they resist intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

Common tempers are O, H111, H112, H116 and H321. O temper is best for bending and forming, while H321 is preferred for high-strength shafts and fittings.

MOQ is 500 kg per size. Mixed loads and trial orders are negotiable.

Stock sizes ship in 3 – 5 days; production and cutting typically take 7 – 25 days depending on quantity and specifications.

Yes. 5083 has excellent weldability. Use ER5356 or ER5556 filler wire with argon shielding gas. Post-weld heat treatment is not required.

Yes. Use sharp carbide tools, moderate feeds and good lubrication to avoid work hardening. 5083 machines well in H112 or H321 temper.

5083 offers higher as-welded strength and is the first choice for heavy marine fittings and shafts. 5086 is slightly more formable and economical for lighter welded frames.

5083 is stronger and more corrosion-resistant in saltwater, making it better for marine and offshore. 5052 is easier to machine and form and is ideal for general fasteners and brackets.

We provide Mill Test Certificate (MTC), chemical composition report, mechanical test report and EN 10204 3.1 certificate on request.
